I heart you more than anything, dear Glamour, but this recent post made my heart hurt. I will never, ever stop wearing my red lip. BUT I can ABSOLUTELY get on board with these new plummier versions!
I picked up this one from NARS (the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, my usual go-to and favorite) in Damned, and have been loving the fresh new look lately. (Hint: pair with Le Métier de Beauté’s Lip Creme in Mum’s the Word from the Haute House Hues Collection for a rich, pinkier plum).

If you want to carry the plummy wine trend throughout, try some of these:

After a few years of living in New York, I have sufficiently mastered the art of having a lot of crap and hiding it very well. But sometimes you run out of space in cabinets and drawers. And when you run out of space in cabinets and drawers, you store things… out.
Here are some tricks I use for storing the things I own the most of - beauty products and jewelry. My clothes, though, are a different story that deserve a future post of their own.

First up: nail polish. If you have a lot of nail polishes, it’s best to devote one shelf or a half a shelf of your medicine cabinet to store them. That way you can remember all the colors you have, and the bottles aren’t at risk of breaking or being forgotten at the bottom of a makeup bag. I put mine in color order… because I’m neurotic.

Next up: Ball jars and mugs! I tend to accumulate mugs so I started repurposing them in my bathroom. This one is a Fishs Eddy classic, and one of my favorites - I use it for all my brushes. My Ball jar storage ideas came (obviously) from Pinterest and I use them everywhere. They’re great catchalls for makeup and they’re cheap! I separate my eyeliners and mascaras and my lip products and store them in two Ball jars in my bathroom cabinet. It keeps them organized and I don’t forget all my options since the jars are clear. Ball jars are also great for keeping smaller-sized skin care products, like eye creams and samples.

Jewelry is always a tricky one, especially for New Yorkers. There isn’t always room for a big jewelry box on those tiny Ikea dressers. So, you have to get creative. I use this clear glass candelabra on my dresser to hold all my necklaces and headbands, and store my multitude of bracelets and rings in trays. My trendier things I keep in one big pink C. Wonder tray, and my rings and nicer bracelets are in their own tiny ones from Catbird, my absolute favorite Brooklyn shop.
Fall is (basically) here, which means winter is coming, which means… it will soon be time to deal with your hair getting dry & brittle. A friend at work recently asked me about a good way to keep her hair soft, and I wholeheartedly recommended my potion of choice, THIS:

Phyto Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask. I use it once every two weeks or so and it keeps my unruly mane healthy and touchable.
For other silky smooth hair options, try one of these too:
Kiehl’s Amino Acid Conditioner - I have been and will always be a Kiehl’s lover, but this stuff really is amazing. Gentle enough for daily use and even when I air-dry my hair I can feel that it works.
Amika Obliphica Oil Treatment - Use before you blow-dry, but don’t overdo it or your hair can get heavy.
Ojon Full Detox Dry Cleansing Spray - For those days when washing your hair isn’t an option. I will admit that sometimes I will choose this over actually washing my hair, it’s so good. Smells nice, too.
